Bob Piorun has performed and taught music in Central New York for over 40 years. He has taught over
7,000 people to play guitar, bass and flute as well as improvisation as applied to all styles of music.
Bob has played in all musical settings from solo to big band, country, classical, pop, jazz and rock. He has
performed with the Syracuse Symphony,. world renowned flutist, James Galway, singer Michael Feinstein, received
a gold record for arranging work with “Manowar” and performed with “oldies” groups such as “The Platters”,
“The Coasters” and “The Ink Spots”.
Bob Piorun has written two guitar method books and an electric bass method. He has released a CD
"Picking On The Classics" which features the Mozart String Quartet, Eine kleine
Nachmusik (A Little Night Music). The CD also includes authentic versions of Bach, Pachelbel, Chopin and
Gounod pieces that have become rock and roll classics. Most selections were done with three guitars and
electric bass, all played by Bob.
He currently performs with his own group Bob Piorun & “The Convertibles”,
a versatile group consisting of three of Central NY’s finest vocalists: Bernie McNabb and
Connie Patti plus bassist Shane Aaserud and drummer John Gagliano.
He has collaborated with jazz writer and bassist Kevin Dorsey on a CD: Until We See You Again.
He has performed with The Kevin Dorsey Collective and appears on two Kevin Dorsey CD’s: Inner Journey and Gateway
(www.kevindorseymusic.com).
Bob released a CD in 2007 of instrumental versions of Christmas Carols.
Bob continues to teach guitar, electric bass and flute and hosts a successful music workshop each winter
at The Schweinfurth Museum in Auburn.
